The Earth – Our Amazing Home Planet

Earth is the 3rd Planet from the Sun and the only one known to Support Life. It has the perfect mix of Air, Water and Temperature to keep People, Animals and Plants alive around 71% of Earth is covered in Water, while the rest 29% is Land with Mountains, Forests, Deserts and Cities.

Earth Spins once every 24 hours (giving us Day and Night) and travels around the Sun once every 365 days (making one year). It also has one Moon, which helps control the tides in our Oceans.

Thanks to its Atmosphere, Sunlight and Natural Resources, Earth is the perfect place for Life - and it's the only Home we've got. That's why it's so important to take care of it.

A Planet Full of Water and Life

About 71% of Earth is covered in Water - Oceans, Lakes and Rivers. The rest is land made up of Forests, Mountains, Deserts and Cities. This mix of Land and Water makes Earth truly unique.

Earth also has the perfect Environment for life:

·         Air to Breathe

·         Water to Drink

·         Warmth and Energy from the Sun

Earth’s Place in Space

Earth spins like a Top, completing one full turn every 24 hours - that gives us Day and Night.

It also orbits the Sun once every 365 days, which makes One Year. Earth has One Moon, which lights up our night sky and helps control the Ocean’s tides.

Why Earth is So Special

No other planet we know has such a perfect Balance of Air, Water and Temperature to support life. Earth is often called the "Blue Planet" because it looks mostly blue from Space, thanks to all the Water.

Let’s Take Care of Earth

Earth is our only home and it’s important to protect it. That means:

·         Saving Water

·         Reducing Pollution

·         Planting Trees

·         Keeping Nature Clean and Safe

Together, we can help Earth stay Beautiful and Healthy for Future Generations.

What Do We Get from Earth?

Earth is the 3rd Planet from the Sun and the 5th Largest Planet in the Solar System in terms of Size and Mass. It is the only place known to Harbor Life. Earth's atmosphere is mostly composed of Nitrogen and Oxygen, providing the necessary conditions for life to thrive. The atmosphere also protects the planet from most incoming meteoroids, which typically break up before reaching the surface. The planet's mean radius is approximately 6371.0 Kilo meters, with an equatorial circumference of about 40,075 Kilo meters. The surface area of Earth is around 510 million square kilo meters, of which about 71% is covered by water and 29% by land. Earth's rotation period is 24 hours, and its sidereal rotation period is slightly less, at about 23 hours and 56 minutes. The planet's axial tilt is approximately 4 degrees, which is responsible for the seasons. Earth gives us everything we need to live - it’s our amazing home full of natural gifts.

Here are some of the most important things we get from Earth :

Water

We get Fresh Water from Rivers, Lakes and underground Sources. Water is essential for Drinking, Cooking, Cleaning, Growing Food and Keeping us Healthy.

Food

Earth provides all kinds of Food - Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Fish and Animals. Farmers grow Crops in the Soil and Plants feed both People and Animals.

Air

We breathe Oxygen, which comes from Trees and Plants. Earth’s air (atmosphere) also protects us from the Sun’s harmful rays and keeps our planet warm enough to live.

Natural Resources

Earth gives us Natural Materials like:

·         Wood from trees for building and paper

·         Metals and Minerals from the ground (like Iron, gold and Salt)

·         Fuels like Coal, Oil and Gas for energy and transportation

Beautiful Nature

From Mountains and Forests to Oceans and Beaches, Earth offers Amazing Places to explore, play, and enjoy. Nature helps us relax and feel happy.

Life

Earth is home to Millions of Species of Animals, Plants and Humans. It's the only Planet we know that supports life in so many forms.
